Episode 237
This is a simple day hike from Seravalle Pistoiese at the beginning of Tuscan trail 300 (called double zero by locals) at the foot of the village. The trail starts at the old road over the pass (above the tunnel that the A11 cuts under the pass). The trail is well marked and dips down and across a few valley cross-roads, so there is more up & down that on the second day hike (Poggio del Monte to Artimino), but it is still a comfortable day-hike.
In part 2 we start from the cell tower above the villages of Lucciano/Quarrata, both of which have bus service from Pistoia. There is a well-groomed trail at the end of the road at the upper limits of the village of Lucciano. The trail takes you up to the base of the cell tower (where there is also a road that leads down to the western valley and township of Vinci). This is the spot where we ended the Day 1 hike.
